I began working with Chi Modu during his time as The Source magazine’s founding photo editor and was at his side as he chronicled the golden era of hip-hop. The results were the first commercial images of hip-hop music & culture. We defined the production value and processes for an entire genre, developing campaigns for artists including Biggie Smalls, 2pac, Mike Tyson, Method Man and others. These iconic images shaped the culture for years to follow. Recently, I travelled to Finland to produce Chi’s first retrospective entitled “Uncategorized” debuted at the Pori Art Museum kicking off Pori Jazz Fest.
